About Me: Ulysses S. Grant

Hi, my name is Ulysses S. Grant. I was born in Point Pleasant, Ohio on April 27th, 1822. After I graduated I went and fought in the Mexican War. After I retired from war I tried business for awhile. After many failed attempts I went to work for my brother in his leather shop as a clerk. I met my wife Julia Dent and we got married on August 22,1848. We had four beautiful childre Frederick, Ulysses, Ellen, and Jesse. I was elected president on May 4, 1869 and I served until March 3, 1877. I was the 18th president of the United States. I passed away on July 23,1885 at age 63 due tongue and tonsil cancer. A fun fact about myself is that my name is actually not Ulysses. My name given to me at birth is Hiram. I gained the name Ulysses when I was in the army. An officer in the army wrote the name Ulysees instead of Hiram on a nomination form, and because they refused to change the name on the form I decided to adopt the name. This is all about me. Favorite thing I learned in 7th grade S.S.

From what I can remember there was one lesson that stood out in my memory that I enjoyed last year in Mr. Lee's social studies class. I remember one lesson where we got to spend a week in the computer lab and we had to do research aboout the different kind of American Indians. Although I don't really care to much about Indians it was nice to get out of the classroom and get to do some work on the computers. I use to get really tired of sitting in the class listening Mr.Lee talk. I like getting to go work on stuff outside the class. We also got to present what we found to the class, and I love getting to talk. This was the best lesson ever!

About Me: Peyton May

My name is Peyton May and I am an 8th grader at Fordell Junior High School in Dallas, Texas. I am 13 years old.I am an only child and live at home with both my parents. I love to play volleyball and I play for our school. I love to be outside and to read. Only for fun not AR. I love to go shopping and hanging out with friends. I love church camp and watching T.V. My favorite show is Pretty Little Liars. My favorite color is yellow. I love getting flowers and chocolate. Gerber daisies and Reeces are the best :) I don't love school, but I try and get through it and keep good grades. My family and I just got a Mac computer, and we do have internet access at home. This is just who I am. I am happy to be me!
